To Make a Movie…
About the Production of Creed of Gold
Film plots come in a variety of shapes and sizes and sometimes the unlikeliest places are the best for finding the next blockbuster. For Screenwriter and Executive Producer Mark Knudsen, a father of six, the moment of inspiration came after taking a child to the dentist. In the lunch afterward, the dentist, a long time friend of the family, discussed his questions and concerns over the international monetary system. The hook was set and for the next several months, Mark devoured everything he could on central banking, the Federal Reserve, and the Bolshevik Revolution.
In his research, Mark discovered that in 1916 Russia was stuck in a war that many of the Russian people wanted no part of. The Great War had been fought to a stalemate. The Germans wanted to get Russia to withdraw and leave the war. A plan was crafted. It was a little sketchy as to who was really involved though it appeared that a man named Trotsky actually brokered the deal. Was there a group of wealthy Americans behind this plan? It seems that there were three groups that all wanted different things. The Germans wanted Russia out of the war, the Bolsheviks insurgents wanted control of Russia, and some wealthy individuals wanted access to Russian markets and possibly access to a Russian central bank.
Based on actual historical facts, CREED OF GOLD takes Adam Smith (TAYLOR LINDSEY), Kirsten Stanford (ELLEN LAWRENCE), and Cody Williams (NICHOLAS WILLEKE) in an intriguing journey of discovery. It is a tale of history coming alive and impacting the daily life of three college students.
Commenting on the writing of the script, Mark Knudsen recounts, “I have always loved films. However I’ve often been disappointed with the intellectual content of the stories presented. With CREED OF GOLD we took the history of the Bolshevik Revolution and some key elements of how the Federal Reserve was founded and wove it into a story about three college students.”
As an intellectual action drama, in CREED OF GOLD each of the lead characters takes a hard look at the world around them and reevaluates their own attitudes and perceptions about it. For Assistant Director Micah Lawrence that was one of the exciting parts of the project. “I believe this story strikes at the heart of many of the problems we are facing in the world today. Is there absolute truth? Can we create our own standards of right and wrong?”
For Director Daniel Knudsen finally walking onto the set of CREED OF GOLD was a touching event, “CREED OF GOLD will always have a special place in my heart. The first evening of production I walked onto the set and realized this was a dream of a lifetime come true.”
